Heer Ranjha story as narrated by the legendary Punjabi poet Waris Shah not only narrates the story of their love, but also covertly reveals the Ishq-e-Haqiqi [the higher Love of God]. Verses from Heer Ranjha have become a part of spoken punjabi in both Pakistani and Indian sides, as it speak of love not confined by castes and borders. Shaukat Ali had a distinct loud and strong voice and his rendition of Punjabi folk are true to the genre.

He died recently on 2 April 2021 after prolonged illness. May Allah grant him the best of Jannah. Ameen.
