Tu Rahnaward-e-Shauq Hai Manzil Na Kar is the first verse from Allama Iqbal’s poem Tipu Sultan Ki Wasiyat [from Zarb-e-Kaleem]. Tipu Sultan Ki Wasiyat [The Legacy of Sultan Tipu] is a beautiful and touching poem by Allama, in which he describes the advice of the great warrior to future generations.

Tipu Sultan was the last real resistance against the take over of India by the British and he fought bravely like a true warrior until his last breath. Allama Iqbal wrote favourably for Sultan Tipu, his bravery, and his desire to seek union amongst all nations within India, which is evident by his below poem. The legacy of Tipu Sultan per this poem remains a continuous struggle and even if you are offered your beloved or a destination, reject these and continue since life is a journey of love, not a destination.

تو رہ نورد شوق ہے ، منزل نہ کر قبول
ليلي بھي ہم نشيں ہو تو محمل نہ کر قبول

اے جوئے آب بڑھ کے ہو دريائے تند و تيز
ساحل تجھے عطا ہو تو ساحل نہ کر قبول

کھويا نہ جا صنم کدہ کائنات ميں
محفل گداز ! گرمي محفل نہ کر قبول

صبح ازل يہ مجھ سے کہا جبرئيل نے
جو عقل کا غلام ہو ، وہ دل نہ کر قبول

باطل دوئي پسند ہے ، حق لا شريک ہے
شرکت ميانہ حق و باطل نہ کر قبول
