Yeh Gumbad-e-Minaai: Kalam-e-Iqbal sung by Hina Nasrullah

 

Hina Nasrullah rose to fame quickly with her exceptionally melodious voice and her ability to sing her high notes without any effort or training. She is considered a prodigy in Sufi music and rose to popularity quickly with Naat, Sufiana Kalam, and Kalam-e-Iqbal.

Yeh Gumbad-e-Minaai is a poem from Dr Allama Iqbal’s Baal-e-Jibreel collection, widely regarded as the greatest of Allama’s verse compilations. It is a poem that describes state of awe due to greatness of universe and tininess of human being. It also touches the usual concepts of Khudi and meaning of life.

Mujh Ko To Darati Hai, Iss Dasht Ki Pehnayi

 

This dome of blue skies, and this vast world in which I am alone
In this isolation of desert [world], I am intimidated by its vastness

 

Yeh Gumbad-e-Minaai was originally sung by Ustaad Mehdi Hassan Khan. Later performed by Hina Nasrullah in her high pitch voice, it became one of the finest rendition of Kalam-e-Iqbal.

لالۂ صحرا – محمد اقبال

یہ گنبدِ مینائی ، یہ عالمِ تنہائی
مجھ کو تو ڈراتی ہے اِس دشت کی پہنائی

بھٹکا ہوا راہی میں ، بھٹکا ہوا راہی تو
منزل ہے کہاں تیری ، ائے لالۂ صحرائی

خالی ہے کلیموں سے یہ کوہ و کمر ورنہ
تو شعلۂ سینائی، میں شعلۂ سینائی

تو شاخ سے کیوں پھوٹا، میں شاخ سے کیوں ٹوٹا
اک جذبۂ پیدائی، اک لذّتِ یکتائی

غواص محبت کا اللہ نگہباں ہو
ہر قطرۂ دریا میں، دریا کی ہے گہرائی

اِس موج كے ماتم میں، روتی ہے بھنور کی آنکھ
دریا سے اٹھی لیکن، ساحل سے نہ ٹکرائی

ہے گرمیِ آدم سے، ہنگامۂ عالم گرم
سورج بھی تماشائی، تارے بھی تماشائی

ائے بادِ بیابانی مجھ کو بھی عنایت ہو
خاموشی و دل سوزی، سرمستی و رعنائی
